Wild Eggs  (A Tale of Arctic Egg Collecting)

by Suzie Napayok-Short; Illustrated by Jonathan Wright
(ages 3-10) Have you ever gone on an egg hunt in the Arctic? Learn about this long held tradition through the precious perspective of a young child visiting her grandparents. Little Akuluk and her stuffed polar bear, Piulua, share in the family's heritage in Arctic Canada. The illustrations are gorgeous in this heirloom tale and you’ll even learn some of the culture and courtesies of wild egg gathering along with some words and pronunciation of some Inuktitut. While the story takes place in a Canadian territory, the state of Alaska is also in the Arctic and shares in the Arctic traditions.
