Herbert Hoover National Historic Site – West Branch, IA

Orphaned at age nine, Herbert became a successful student and businessman making himself a millionaire several times over. He contributed in humanitarian aide throughout the world and eventually become 31st president of the United States of America at age fifty-four. There are oodles of historical photos on the NPS site (link above) of Herbert’s childhood, family and achievements. While he was considered very successful as an individual he is not looked upon as good political president. Serving during the Great Depression there were many challenges and blunders in his presidency. Find out more by visiting the national historic site or reading a book about Herbert Hoover.
