Big Bend National Park – Big Bend National Park, TX
Big Bend can look like a barren desert initially, but with the Rio Grande running through it, there is plenty of wildlife! Surprisingly this park is home to a variety of bird species – possibly the most of any national park in the US. You’ll also see tarantulas, javelinas and impressive cacti. You can take advantage of the river and kayak or canoe down it while you enjoy the majestic cliffs and scenery.
If you like ghost towns, this park is home to the abandoned town of Terlingua. Walk among the ruins and get a glimpse of of the past.
The night sky is something to behold as well! Prepare for some awe-inspiring star gazing. Even if you’re not a camper, the night sky just might tempt you to want to pitch a tent. There are lots of amazing photos on the NPS site ! You’re going to want to check it out with the link provided!

The Guadalupe Mountains National Park is not very popular for visitors, but it is a treasure trove of fossils for paleontologists. Have you ever seen a trilobite fossil? There are lots of them here! With layers of history in these mountains, they are a fascination for those who appreciate the prehistoric era.
Today we can also see wildlife in these mountains. You’re most likely to find critters near the watering holes – check out jack rabbits, hummingbirds and other creatures. Even if you don’t see the animals, can you identify their prints or see a burrow?
