If you’ve written off playing family games because of too much contention or competitive nature in your brood, this game may be a changer for you. Pandemic is a cooperative game in which you and your fellow players are working together to save humanity from four deadly diseases. While this game by Z-Man Games came out several years before the dreadful 2020 pandemic, we didn’t happen upon it until 2020 – while looking for inhouse entertainment and adventures. One silver-lining in 2020 for our family was having two of our college kids come home for some bonus months as a family – and when we have family gatherings at our house, we have game nights! Pandemic did not disappoint. As a homeschool mom, I’m a sucker for maps. And games with maps hold a special place in my heart. Games with maps or other informative/educational aspects can’t help but make learning so fun it can’t possibly be good for you. As a homeschooling family, we’re always looking for ways to incorporate learning and play. It’s like we are tricking them into learning something. ssshhhh 😉
This game does require a little time investment in learning to play the game, but it’s not complicated, and once you know how it works, it goes pretty smoothly and everyone gets involved and works together to plan and strategize for an all family win.
Just look at that cool world map with not one, but TWO sets of coordinating location cards! Can you think of a more engaging way to learn about geography?
