I often disagree with the ages recommended for a book. I can’t imagine an age too old to not love this book.

While the simple story of Chicken and Egg’s competitive natures is just okay, the true value in this book is the amazing “Note to Parents & Other Caregivers” at the back of the book. As a game lover . . . who has learned over time to both win and lose more gracefully . . . I give this book 5 stars for the application value! Learning to reconcile the real emotions and challenges that come in coping with all kinds of loss is a necessary part of life. Helping children navigate this in the safety of home is a priceless gift. Play LOTS of games to practice winning and losing on a regular basis. 😉 May you pick up the book again and again and be reminded of the truths of life that everything is not as polarizing or black-and-white as it may seem, and we can all hold our wins and loses with dignity and see the values and lessons in both. Be sure to read IF by Rudyard Kipling for another compliment to this concept.
